Exchanges & Swaps – Group Projects – TC Buttons – Clay Plays

“Time to Shine” demonstrations:
At each monthly guild meeting one member demonstrates a clay project or technique. Past demonstrations have included making molds, clay carving, image transfers, using rubber stamps and colored inks.

Exchanges and swaps:
There is an annual exchange at the December meeting. Members bring their item (which can be holiday themed or not) in a plain brown paper bag, numbers are then drawn to select a bag at random.
Another type of swap is when members agree to a specific set of parameters and then create enough of a single item to share with the other members who also chose to participate.
Past swaps have included “black and white canes” “bead on a ball-chain” and “covered tins”.
Group Projects:
To practice techniques and spark creativity, members work together to create group projects. The projects will have a common theme while allowing each member to express their own unique style within the agreed upon parameters. These group projects are often on display during Guild demonstrations and gallery displays.

Participating members created a variety of sea life, which were then combined into this wonderful display, arranged by Laura Burlis.

Participating members were assigned a color to create their own slice of this beautiful rainbow.

Textile Center Buttons:
Guild members create unique buttons to be sold at the Textile Center. People can buy these buttons for use in their handmade garments or projects. Proceeds for these buttons are added to the Guild’s Treasury.
Clay Plays:
Clay Plays are regular get-togethers, which are open to anyone! We spend up to 4 hours (sometimes more on weekends) playing with our clay. Bring your clay and any tools, ideas, or techniques that you feel like and enjoy the convivial atmosphere of creativity among your fellow artists! Our Clay Play events vary in location and timing, based on interest and space availability. To inquire about any upcoming Clay Plays, please visit our Contact page.
